    Striped Mullet

A friend sent me a note that he's been seeing a lot of mullet jumping in the lagoon near Carlsbad. Wondered about catching them. Here's some info on the hard to catch fish. https://www.pierfishing.com/striped-mullet/

I have not been able to reach Polly's on their listed telephone number. I think they are closed.

    Garden Snails

No, the garden snails didn't dissolve but I think that would happen if you tried something like a banana slug. I never tried one of those.

Sunrise Point Pier (Candlestick Point) Closed?

I haven't been there for about a year. The main pier was open but the second, smaller pier was closed. Much of the area was closed and used by the homeless.

    The dark side...

I've kept them all over the years.

    Another dark side story.

Thinking back to a fishing trip I took on the Superfish out of the Loch Lomond Marina in San Rafael on July 20, 1983. It was a "potluck" trip where we would target several different species in San Francisco Bay. The boat's total for 17 people was 15 California halibut, 6 striped bass, 6 salmon...

    The dark side...

Back in the day when I would visit the dark side — and do some fishing from boats. A couple of stripers I caught on August 12, 1977 while fishing on the Fisherman II out of the Emeryville Marina. The larger fish was 35 1/2 inches in length and 17 1/2 pounds.

He lived on a hill overlooking Mission Bay in San Diego and would daily drive his Ford pickup down to the bay. Once there he would pump up his daily limit of 50 ghost shrimp...
